MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING MAY 2009 Nancy Andrew called meeting to order on May 14, 2009 at 7:08 p.m. April minutes accepted by Gil Winder and seconded by Jerome Sauer. Nancy announces Band Booster Board Members for 2009-2010: Eva Nasciamento, President; Elia Walsh, Vice President; Mario Ciampi, Treasurer; Nella Szilagyi, Secretary; Yolanda Preysner, Publicity. All chair positions filled except for Ad Book. Treasurer’s Report Mario Ciampi- March report showed receipts of $2,182.20 primarily from Ad Book funds ($2,150.00. Expenses of $928.60 consisted of Ad Book expenses, Dollars for Scholars, and residual fruit sale expenses. April report showed total receipts of $2,369.29 primarily from Bottle & Can Drive ($1,567.50), final payments for NYC trip ($550.60) and donations ($210). Expenses of $1,432.00 consist of uniform cleaning and final NYC trip payments. Publicity Report and Yearbook Update Yolanda Preysner- reported that she will put a “Thank you” notice for bottle drive, as well as a picture of the Memorial Day Parade in the Post. Yolanda also reported that the yearbook has 3 pages dedicated to Music Program. The pages are nicely put together and represent the various aspects of the music program. She met with the yearbook advisor, Chris Falana and while we could look into buying additional pages, it is not practical as pages must be purchased in batches. Dave Dion’s Update Ø Memorial Day Parade- May 23rd @ 8:30 at DMV parking lot. Students will be wearing their uniforms minus shakos.Ø Spring Concert- June 10th , there will be a guest , David Negri. Ø Graduation- June 23rd Regular concert dress required. Additional details to follow. Ø 2009 Band Camp- August 19th- August 26th at Webb from 9-4, Uniform fittings will be on August 24th and 25th. 2009 Field Show will be In the Heights; As of yet, no decision has been made on drum majors. Fundraising Ø Bottle Drive- Charlie DoBrow reported receipts of $1,567.00. During June meeting Jerome will be signing up volunteers for Fall Bottle Drive on August 29th.Ø Rockcats- May 31st will be the first game; we need 10-12 volunteers total. Students must be 16 years old and new working papers each year. They can pick them up in the band room.Ø Concert DVDs- email Gail Griffin and let her know which ones you would like… Marching Season, Holiday Concert, Winter Concert, and Spring Concert. Other Business Ø Banquet- May 22nd Still need a few volunteers for 50/50 Raffle, as well as set up and cleanup.Ø Trophy Case and Wish List Considered- We received a quote for Band Booster Trophy Cases 1 for $1850 + tax or 2 for $3,600 + tax. Nancy motioned to get 2; Charlie Epp seconded. We also voted on Dave Dion’s request for a battery operated amplifier approximately $1,900. Nancy motioned to approve the request; Jerry Martin seconded. Mario Ciampi also recommended we put $5,000 into the uniform fund increasing it to $15,550. Donna Pallone motioned and Donna Rizzio seconded. Quote on building shelving in band room storage area was $1,800. Mr. Dion felt we could build it ourselves for much less.Ø Dollars for Scholar 2009 recipient is Michael Ciampi who will be attending Boston College in the fall. Eva will be presenting the scholarship on May 27th during the Award Ceremony. Ø It was suggested that a flyer be included in the summer newsletter, as well as sent out in the September email blast reminding Band Booster members about the United Way Fundraiser.Ø Discussed possibility of participating in bottle collection during the 375th Celebration on Oct 16-17. It was decided it would be too difficult considering it’s right in the middle of Marching Band Season. Meeting adjourned at 8:30. Next meeting will be June 11 at 7:00 p.m.
