MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING

JUNE 2009 

Eva Nascimento called meeting to order on June 11, 2009 at 7:05 p.m.   

May minutes accepted by Nancy Andrews and seconded by Antonella Catricala noting the following corrections: Nancy requested 2 trophy cases for $3,600 + tax.  Charlie Epp motioned to get both and additional band booster member seconded.  Also, Jerry Martin motioned to accept Dr. Dion’s request for a battery operated amplifier, additional band booster member seconded.

Treasurer’s Report            

 Mario Ciampi- May 31st was the fiscal year end.  May report includes miscellaneous receipts to total $538.37, as well as final year end expenses totaling $238.56.  In addition, the $5,000 approved for uniforms was set aside leaving $15,781.25 in the Booster account to cover trophy case and amplifier purchase.  There’s approximately $2,000 in unused senior money- what isn’t transferred to younger siblings’ accounts will be transferred to the Booster Account.

Dave Dion’s Update

Ø      Eva provided update as Dave Dion was out.

Ø     Graduation- June 23rd Everyone to meet at 5:00 @ DMV parking lot.  Boys must wear ties.  No sandals, sneakers and sunglasses. 

Ø  Memorial Day Parade and Spring Concerts went well! Many positive comments from public.  Color Guard raised $300+ during the Bake Sale.

Ø     Travel agent is looking into possibilities for the 09-10 Band Trip. Ø  Dion’s Summer Packets to go out the  end of June. 

Fundraising

Ø      Summer Bottle Drive- John McFarlane and Jerome Sauer to put in Building Use Permit for August 29th.  They will be signing up volunteers at Band Camp and posting advertisements to Coffee Times Flyer.  Also, need new bottle drive signs for front lawns and side streets.

Ø     Color Guard raised $305 at Bake Sale during Spring Concert.

Ø  Rockcats- made $700 on the first game.  Donna and Charlie are still looking for volunteers, especially for July 12 and 31. 

 Other Business

Ø      Banquet- Nella and Elia reported 200+ attended.  There was plenty of food and everyone seemed to have a good time.  The 50/50 Raffle made $128.  Thanks to everyone that helped with setup and cleanup. We couldn’t do it without you.

Ø      Instrumental Donations/Drive- Yolanda to check with Marie Gray to approve an instrument drive to help more elementary students learn to play an instrument. Will look into possibility of cash donations??? Look for email blast with details.

Ø     Marching Band Packets will be coming this summer in early August.  It will include vital information: medical form, photo release form, calendar and instructions.  Uniform fitting dates will be the August 24 and 25.  Pickups are typically the weekend before competition. Also, Gene Marinelli has agreed to assist with pit for marching season.

Ø     375 Anniversary Celebration Parade –September 27th ; more information to come.

Ø      We still do not know about switching from St Patrick’s Da Parade to Veteran’s Day Parade.
