MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING SEPTEMBER 2009 Eva Nascimento called meeting to order on September 9th at 7:15. Begins by introducing booster officers and asks everyone to introduce themselves. June Minutes Ron Debarge accepted the June minutes and Carol Narcissis seconded. Treasurer’s Report Mario Ciampi- Report includes transactions from June through August. Deposits totaling 2,684.40 consisted primarily of banquet receipts, donations, and first check from Rock Cats. Withdrawals totaling 3,863.23 consisted primarily of expenses for banquet, band camp expenses, band and color guard supplies. Senior student funds not used were transferred from student accounts to booster account to close with a balance of $15,836.72. Band Camp and Marching Updates Eva Nasciamento- Summer packets went out in the beginning of August. Check website for schedule changes and competition information. Also, make sure to go to the website to sign up for email notifications. Sal LaRosa offered to videotape some of the football games, and Mary Zambrello offered that Ed would videotape as well. Sal and Ed will coordinate schedules. Nancy Andrews passed around sign ups for volunteers and chaperones. Uniforms Donna Pallone- All except 3uniforms have been picked up. We are still waiting for one pair of shoes that was ordered late. Gloves will be given out Saturday at the Cornfest. Sweatshirt & T-shirt Orders Nancy Andrews- Sweatshirt forms went out; order will be placed Friday. Also, we still have “In the Heights” t-shirts designed by Sarah Solberg available for $10.00. Fundraising 1) Rock Cats (Donna Rizzo & Charlie Epp) - This summer we operated concessions stands for four games at approximately $600 a game. One event was short staffed which manager said would result in our receipts being reduced? We are waiting to see… Discussed ways of getting students to commit, everything from really talking up the $25 students get credited to their account for each event they work to having section leaders get volunteers. 2) Bottle Drive (Jerome Sauer and John MacFarlane) 8/29 cancelled due to weather, rescheduled for Oct 31st. Same publicity strategies will be used for October date. 3) Magnets (Stacey Veley) – will need student volunteers to sell magnets at open house. 4) Fruit Sale (Eva and Joe Nascimento and Jane MacFarlane) - This is the biggest fundraiser. Students get 80% of profits from their sales credited to their accounts to use for trips. 20% goes into booster fund. Monday is kickoff day. Eva will be passing out packets to students and they have about three weeks to contact customers on their lists until call nights when all customers may be contacted. We need a location for call night, as well as volunteers for making fruit baskets and fruit pick up days. 5) Grants and United Way- Please check with your employers if they have any Matching programs for your volunteer work. Also, note that you may select the WHS Boosters to receive your United Way Dollars. See website (wimb.info) for account info. Dave Dion’s Update Ø Cornfest- students need to be there by 9:30. Performance will be at 10:00. Practice at Webb 1:00-4:00. Ø Wethersfield 375th Anniversary Parade- Students need to be at DMV parking lot by 11:30 on Sunday, Sept. 27th. Ø Trip- Is still being discussed. Ø Other- Dave says show is coming along. Need a companion speaker @ a cost of $670.00. The bass guitar needs a quiet generator. A generator can cost several hundred dollars where as a car battery with a power converter would be about $150. Nancy Andrews motioned to allocate moneys transferred from student accounts (1,234.00) to pay for the appropriate equipment/best solution. Ron Debarge seconded. Majority voted yes. Meeting adjourned at 8:40. Next Meeting is October 8th at 7:00 p.m.
