MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING JANUARY 2010 Eva Nascimento called meeting to order on January 14th at 7:05pm. December Minutes Lou Durocher motioned to accept the December minutes. Yolanda Preysner seconded. December minutes were accepted. Treasurer’s Report Mario Ciampi gave the treasurer’s report for the month of December. Publicity Yolanda Preysner stated regional winners were in last Sunday’s Hartford Courant. Also look for articles in the Wethersfield Post. Uniforms Donna Pallone was not present, but Eva reported that all uniforms have been returned. Filomena brought in samples of polo shirts spring/summer uniforms. Lisa Ambrogio motioned to purchase the navy Pima cotton polo for $18.00. Nancy seconded with the stipulation that Dave agree and the shirt is preshrunk cotton. All in favor, motion passed. Nancy motioned for Executive Committee and Dave to make final decision once all information was clarified. Chris Lamberti seconded. All in favor, motion passed. Fundraising Ø Christmas Tree pickup –Yolanda Preysner and Jerome Sauer reported over $1000 has been collected and there are an additional 73 trees to collect this weekend. Yolanda says she’s been getting 10-15 calls a day totaling 175 in all so far. More student volunteers needed to help with pick ups. Nancy Andrew offers to drive her truck if she has a couple of student volunteers. Charlie Lamberti motions to reimburse for mileage to those volunteering their trucks. Charlie Epp seconds. All in favor, motion is passed. Ø Rockcats- Charlie Epp reported that Donna Rizzo will no longer be able to help so anyone interested in making phone calls to recruit volunteers or willing to work should contact him. He needs about 10-12 volunteers per event. Also, he’s received notification that the reimbursement will go down to 9% this season. Because of difficulties in getting volunteers during summer break, Charlie will be looking at Fridays and Sundays in late April, May, June and late August. A couple of suggestions offered to motivate students to volunteer were to increase the student account credit from $25 to $35 and/or to have a competition between band sections for the highest number of volunteers. Ø Add Book- Filomena Marinelli reported she will be sending out letters and following up with a phone call. The person to person contact should help generate additional sponsors. Dave Dion’s Update Ø Northern Regional’s will be on Saturday, January 16th at 5pm in New Britain. Dave will be out Friday. ØHoliday concert was successful with students performing as well as Dave expected. Ø Pep Band has been doing great. Dave has been getting a lot of positive feedback from those attending games. Ø Musical – Curtain will be Mar 5, 6, 7, 12, &13. Practice and rehearsal schedules will be tight, but Dave wants to make sure none of the ensembles are neglected during the prep for Curtain. Ø Trip –Final deposit was due January 11th. Number of students attending dropped to 97 and chaperones to 14. Nancy will call people on waiting list to see if we can fill spots left open. Dave requested a meeting with Executive Board for Friday, January 22nd to discuss details. Other Business Ø Safe Grad- Donation stays at $10.00 per senior. Ø Dave shares Mr. Moore’s requests for a monetary donation to Haiti. Mario Ciampi motions to donate $100. Chris Lamberti seconds. All in favor, motion passed. Ø Issue of school bus safety and transporting of heavy instrument in student buses is discussed. All heavy instruments and equipment should and must be stored on a separate bus/truck. We will write letter to superintendent stating concerns and requesting district pay for this expense. Ø Marching Season DVDs and Holiday Concert DVD are available. Contact Nella or Gail. Ø Group Pictures- Nella reported anyone interested in purchasing group pictures taken at the Holiday Concert may do so from the Art Rich website. Check WIMB website for link. Ø Band Banquet is scheduled for Friday, May 21st. Meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m. Next meeting will be on February 10, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the WHS Chorus Room.
