MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING MARCH 2010 Eva Nascimento called meeting to order on March 11th at 7:05 p.m. PRESIDENT’S COMMENTS Eva started by announcing the polo shirts have come in just in time for the DC trip. The engraving and color have turned out beautiful. Also, she reminded everyone that we are coming into a very busy time of the year, and before we know it we will have to fill empty volunteer positions for the 2010-2011 school years. Anyone interested in chairing a committee or being a shadow should contact Eva. February Minutes Lisa Ambrogio motioned to accept the February minutes. Lou Durocher seconded. February minutes were accepted. Treasurer’s Report Eva briefly reviewed the Treasurer’s Report in Mario Ciampi’s absence. Publicity Yolanda Preysner stated she is working with Gail for the All States Competition publicity. She will publicize the upcoming bottle drive, and the spring newsletter is ready to distribute. Uniforms Ø Chaperones will distribute and collect new polo shirts during DC trip. Ø Cindy Tremblay agreed to shadow Donna Pallone for the coming band season. Fundraising Ø Spring Bottle Drive will be Saturday, May 1st. The Student Volunteer Signup Sheet is in the band room. Ø Ad book- Filomena reported Ad Book will go to printer tomorrow. Frank Valenti from Capital Archive and Storage has donated free printing. Approximate receipts are $2,200.00. Filomena proposed moving next year’s ad book to June. Lou Durocher motioned to accept this proposal; Donna Pallone seconded; motion passed. Nancy Andrews suggested this will make it possible to have a table at the March concert to take student recognitions. Another way to save money would be to do electronic mailings for as many notices as possible. Ø Music and Arts in East Hartford has suggested an August/September fundraiser in which they will hire band students and or parents to work and pay the salary to the Band Boosters. Discussion mostly focused on concerns with how busy students are during band season. Ø Color Guard Bake Sale- March 22nd during Winter Concert Social Events Band Banquet- Friday, May 21st at the Community Center. Dave Dion has names of students interested in putting together the slide show. Donna Rizzio and Lisa Ambrogio volunteered to get gifts for students and teachers. Dave Dion’s Update Ø DC Trip –Chaperone meeting on Tuesday, March 16th @ 6:30 in Band Room. Ø Musical- Curtain March 5, 6, 7, 12, & 13- Understudy show on the 7th went very well. Ø Spring Concert –March 22nd @7:30. Rehearsal will be the 19th from 2:15-4:00. Ø Band Camp Dates- August 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27 from 9 a.m. - 4:00p.m. Lunch will be 12:00 – 1:00. Prevue show will be the 27th. Tentatively listed on the calendar are the New England States and Northern States Championships. Dave will let us know as he has more information. OTHER BUSINESS Ø Warm-up suits- Pam Salvatore was not present. Ø Dollars for Scholars- We are looking for a band parent to award our scholarship at the Awards Banquet on May 26th. Ø 2010-2011 Band Booster Volunteer Openings- in Christmas Tree Pickup, Bottle Drive, and Fruit Sale Truck and Videotaping Performances. Ø Drama Program Raffle Tickets to Boston Meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm. Next Meeting is April 8th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the WHS Chorus Room.
