MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING MAY 2010 Eva Nascimento called meeting to order on May 13th at 7:15 p.m. PRESIDENT’S COMMENTS Eva read the thank you card from the Safe Grade Committee. She then stated that current Band Booster Board will remain in place for next year. Ed Zambrello will be videotaping as Gail Griffin will be stepping down. There are still several opportunities to chair committees, and all committees still need volunteers. May MinutesRon Debarge motioned to accept the April minutes. Susan Wiszniak seconded. April minutes were accepted. Treasurer’s Report Mario Ciampi gave the treasurer’s report for the month of April. Several United Way Donations have been received. Nella will write thank you notes. Uniforms Spring Uniforms Distribution for Memorial Day Parade- volunteers needed for labeling prior to distribution on Friday afternoon. Send email blast reminding parents to return poloshirts unwashed. Fundraising Ø Spring Bottle Drive (May 1st ) - John McFarlane and Jerome Sauer reported net profits of $1,232. Several local businesses continued to donate this year: Manoussos Liquor Store, Pelton’s and Silas Deane Hardware Store. We bought two oversized tents, one fold up table, and three pools to help make the bottle processing more efficient and comfortable. We need more tall bins for separating bottles. The various brands of water bottles were somewhat problematic. Also, more volunteers were needed. Although upper classmen were tied up with SATs, we should have had more under classman participate. Setup shift should be a half hour earlier than opening time so that stations are ready to operate when people start to drop off bottles. Parents could take set up shift as it may be too early to get students. Ø Concert Tapes- Gail Griffin- DVDs are available for all concerts and band season. Spring concert will also be available. Ø Music & Arts Fundraiser- Filomena Marinelli & Judy Niedzielski –This fundraiser requires 8-10 student and parent volunteers to run an 11-3 shift. Music & Arts will pay $35 cash per person or $50 credit per person. August 28th is currently reserved as Wethersfield Instrumental Day. Dave will contact Marie Gray for approval to participate and publicize. If we get approval, Judy and Dave will focus on getting participation from orchestra parents and students as this is during Band Camp. Social Events Band Banquet- Friday, May 21st at the Community Center - Nella Szilagyi and Elia Walsh- Invitations have been mailed out. We also sent out an email blast notifying parents that they could download and print invitation from WIMB website. Need a couple more volunteers for setup and cleanup.
