MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING

OCTOBER 2010

Eva Nascimento called meeting to order on October14th at 7:14pm.

President’s Comments

Eva began by announcing that the Board of Ed will be paying for the truck rental for large instruments and equipment. The fruit sale orders are trickling in.  They are holding call nights at Coldwell Banker.  The next two are on the 20th and 25th. Our next football game scheduled for the 23rd has been changed to Friday night, the 22nd. Dinner for this Saturday is all set.  We just need parents to donate desserts. Nella will send out email blast.

Jane MacFarlane motioned to accept the September minutes. Charlie Epp seconded. September minutes were accepted.

Treasurer’s Report

Mario Ciampi gave the treasurer’s report for September.

Publicity

Yolanda reported there were pictures and stories in Wethersfield Life and Hartford Courant’s iTowns online.  Also, she has sent advertisements for the fruit sale to Channel 14, The Courant, Wethersfield Life, and Wethersfield Post.

Fundraising

Ø  Music & Arts- Filomena reported that $70 was made in refreshments.  WIMB also received a $500 store credit from Music & Arts for the parent volunteers that worked that day. Judy and Filomena are still working with Mr. Dion, Marie Gray and Music & Arts managers to work out the details for next year’s event.  More details will be coming.

Ø  Fruit Sale – Eva and Joe reported the fruit sale receipts are coming in slowly.  We still need volunteers, and there are two more call nights. Please encourage your kids to get their orders in as checks are starting to come in that Joe and Eva can’t match to orders.

Ø  Stadium Cushions- Eva presented a suggestion by Patti Silva to sell stadium cushions. Patti would be willing to run this fundraiser.  One concern that came up was where to sell them. The best solution seemed to be to include order forms in the beginning of the year packets, same as t-shirt and sweatshirt orders.

New/Old Business

Ø  Music T-shirts- Filomena said these were still on hold.  There will be more information coming in November.

Ø  Competition tickets are available. The will be $10 if purchased ahead, $12 at the gate. We need to pre-sell 90 tickets. An additional school bus has been ordered for parents.  There are 44 seats and will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis. Yolanda Preysner will sell tickets and take reservations for parent bus.

Ø  Nella suggested that packets that go to Color Guard prior to band camp focus on information relevant to Color Guard students and their parents.

 Dave Dion’s Update

Ø  Marching Band- Tuesday was one of the worst rehearsal’s to date.  Today’s was excellent.

Ø  Competitions- Students have been representing themselves and the school well. Students need to be at the high school at 12:30 for this Saturday’s Championship.

Ø  Columbus Day Parade went well, and UNICO appreciated our attendance.  UNICO has been very generous donating $620 and labor for the construction of our new bass and cello stands.

Ø  November 6th football game will be Senior Day.  Loretta Skowroneck will get the corsages for seniors being honored.

Meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.  Next Meeting is 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the Chorus Room.
