MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING December 2010 7:00 pm – 8:40 pm Holiday Festivities Eva Nascimento called meeting to order on December 9th at 8:40 pm. President’s Comments On November 11th Eva received a call from Tom Ragonese requesting a donation for pledge towards lights on Cottone Field. Since we had just held our monthly booster meeting, Eva held an Executive Committee meeting to discuss the request and we voted on a pledge of $350.00. Some of the issues Eva shared with Tom were concerns regarding field time, and while there is no guarantee that our situation will improve, Tom did confirm that all school activities come before town and rec programs. November Minutes Diane Dow motioned to accept the November minutes. Joe Nascimento seconded. November minutes were accepted. Treasurer’s Report Mario Ciampi gave the treasurer’s report for November. Publicity Yolanda Preysner was not present, but Eva reported on her behalf that Yolanda has sent announcements for Christmas Tree Pick up to our local papers and we have, also, put an announcement on the WIMB site. Uniforms Donna Pallone reported that Premier is willing to clean uniforms for $6.00 each set and polo shirts for $2.00 a piece. They will also store the polo shirts for us. Donna motioned to switch back to Premier for our dry cleaning needs. Diane Dow seconded. All in agreement, motion passed.Uniform drop-offs will be on Thursday, January 13th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. This includes pit crew shirts and color guard uniforms. Students will have to wait while we check to make sure all pieces are returned. Fundraising Ø Fruit Sale –Eva and Joe Nascimento reported all went very smooth. There was a great turn out of student and parent volunteers, so all but 10 students made 80% of profits from sales. Overall sales were down a bit from last year which is not unusual for a year in which students do have the expense of an overnight band trip. Ø Christmas Tree Pickup- Mr. Dion reported that town offices have asked for flyer to provide to information to residents that call. We need volunteers – one adult with a truck and two students per pick up run. Volunteers please call Rich Giolito who’s coordinating student and parent volunteers. Students may also sign up in the band room. New/Old Business Ø Cabaret Silent Auction- Drama Club has requested we donate a raffle basket for their silent auction. Donna Pallone motioned for $50 for basket. Kerri Milne seconded. Motion passed. Ø Music T-shirts – Judy Niedzielski and Filomena Marinelli were out but Eva reported that order forms have been delivered to schools will be picked this week. Mr. Dion said he only got back 2 forms from class. Email blast seemed to be more effective. Ø Signs- Eva reported that the Fruit Sale Signs were a huge success. Bob Greenough from Greenough Specialty Graphics in Newington will also be making signs for the bottle drive. Dave Dion’s Update Ø Thanksgiving Game- went very well. Ø Northern Regionals – We had fewer participants this year. Still several of our students made it. (Finalist's names will appear in January minutes.) The Festival will be held in January at New Britain High School. Ø Holiday Concert- December 15th at 7:30. Students must arrive by 7:00. There will be a dress rehearsal from 2:15 – 4:00 on Tuesday, December 14th. Nella to send email blast notifying students and parents on mailing list. Ø Misc. Info- In March, the high school students will perform a concert for the elementary and middle school students in the music program. While promoting the high school program to up and coming students, it will also serve as practice for the Winter Concert. Meeting adjourned at 9:40 pm. Next Meeting is January 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the Chorus Room.
