MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING

 

September 2011

 

Eva Nascimento called the meeting to order on September 7 at 7:10pm. 

 

President’s Comments Eva began by welcoming parents of the incoming freshman class.  She introduced the 2011-2012 board: Eva Nascimento and Kirsten Kelley, Co-presidents; Mario Ciampi, Treasurer; and Teresa Swain, Secretary.  Then, she gave some background of fundraisers, including the fruit sale and how students can earn money to help pay for their trips. Extra funds raised at the end of the year go towards Dion’s wish list. Last year $13,000 was allocated. New and current parents had questions regarding competitions, practices and football games, as well as suggestions and comments for additional fundraisers such as tailgating the football games, hosting competitions at Wethersfield High School and also discussed the 2011-2012 band trip. Eva provided a list of open volunteer positions: videographers, bottle drive co-chair, Christmas tree pick-up co-chair, and band camp snacks coordinators.

 

June Minutes Nancy Andrews motioned to accept; John MacFarlane seconded. June minutes were accepted.

 

Treasurer’s Report Mario read June Treasurer’s report, and provided a brief overview of the band booster’s organization. Boosters allocated $8,000 to Mr. Dion’s Wish List.

 

Fundraising

 

• Bottle Drive-John MacFarlane reported that the August Bottle Drive made $1,427.45.  There was no further discussion regarding the next bottle drive.

   

•Music & Arts - This event has been cancelled with no further plans to reschedule at this time.

 

• Rita’s - This fundraiser was held for 3 hours where 70% of the profits made throughout the duration of the event were donated This fundraiser generated $242.00 and also included a prize wheel that raised an additional $65.00.

 

•Music T-shirts- Order Forms will be available on website. All sizes are still available.

 

Social Events

 

Dave Dion’s Update

 

• Trip- Dave reported the trip to Myrtle Beach has been replaced with a trip to Hershey, PA, including possibly a stop on the way home to see a Broadway show.  The approximate cost of this trip will be in the $500. range.  More specifics will be provided in the early fall.

 

• 2011-2012 Field Show will be "Trismegistus".

 

Meeting adjourned at 8:25pm.  The next meeting is October 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the Chorus Room.
