November 2011 Minutes MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING November 2011 Eva Nascimento called the meeting to order on November 10 7:20 pm. President’s Comments Eva began by reviewing the September minutes which copies were made available for all in attendance. September Minutes September minutes were presented and Diane Dow motioned to accept, and Jane MacFarlane seconded. The September minutes were accepted. October Minutes October minutes were reviewed by the board members, as well as all in attendance. Jane McFarlane made a motion to accept and Diane Dow seconded the motion. The October minutes were accepted. Treasurer’s Report Mario read October’s treasurer’s report, and provided a brief overview of the monetary transactions for income and expenses and provided an accounting of where we stood year to date. Fundraising
•Joe Nascimento reported that we have approximately $31,000 in Fruit Sale orders to date. Diane Dow reported on the status of the volunteer sign ups and mentioned additional help was needed for the later weekend shifts. Kirsten Kelley will put together an email blast to reach out for additional help for the upcoming Fruit Sale weekend. Teresa Swain and Kirsten Kelley will coordinate breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages for the weekend. •Eva requested the help of 8 volunteers for cutting and stapling the fruit order sale forms on Wednesday night. •Eva also mentioned a need for patio heaters as well as Tents for the Fruit Sale event in case of cold weather or rain. This will also be mentioned in the email blast seeking additional help for the later weekend shifts. New Business
•Senior Day will be held on November 12, 2011 which will also be picture day for the band. We will need White Carnations with blue ribbons for the seniors. Teresa Swain has agreed to get 35 corsages for the senior band class. •Each year The Safe Graduation Committee seeks donations to help support the safe graduation event held for the graduation seniors. This year, the WIMB donated $10.00 per senior, for a total donation of $370.00. Dave Dion’s Update
• Dave gave an update on the Marching Band and their performance and details of the last competition. • 2011-2012 Field Show is "Trismegistus". The Championship was held on November 5, 2011 in Bridgeport, CT. We will be sending a thank you note to the UCONN Marching Band Director, Dr. David Mills, for allowing the use of the UCONN field in Storrs for the band to practice for the competition. Dave reported how pleased he was with the championship in spite of the weather conditions of the prior week which cancelled practices as well as school for the week. • Trip- Dave reported the trip to Hershey, PA is confirmed for June 1, 2, and 3rd at an approximate cost of $500.00 which will include a stop to see the Broadway play, Chicago. The cost of the trip will be spread over three installments with the first payment due early December, and the last payment due sometime in March. More details to follow. Meeting adjourned at 7:45pm. The next meeting will be held on December 8th at 7:00 pm at Kirsten Kelley's house (holiday party).
