MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING

FEBRUARY 2009

 Eva Nascimento called meeting to order on February 12, 2009 at 7:10  p.m.

January minutes accepted by Stacey Veley and seconded by Gil Winder.
 

Treasurer’s Report

Mario Ciampi- January deposits $2,331.60 include United Way check for $1,400, DVD Sales, and Narcissus Café fundraiser. Expenses of $673.00 include Play program ad and Insurance payment.  Booster’s Account ended with $23,395.17.

 Website

Gail Griffin –website now includes newsletter.

 Publicity

Yolanda Preysner- All States will be in Post once group photo is taken.
 

Uniforms

            All collected.
 

Dave Dion’s Update

Ø  St Patrick’s Day Parade will be March 14th; 5 chaperones needed: must get into Hartford by 8:30 as roads will be closed @ 9:30.

Ø  Music Man rehearsal –pit is doing very well.  Rehearsal for February vacation will be Wed and Thurs., 12-8; Fri., 9-4.  30-35 band students needed for 76 Trombone finale.

Ø  Winter Concert- March 25th (Snow date is 26th )

Ø  Spring Concert- June 10th

Ø  Some middle school band students will be joining high school band for each concert.

Ø  All States- 6 students made it, including 2 freshmen; Matthew Burke, Ryan Griffin, Andrew Jylkka, Rose Lewis, Jane Meditz, & Drew Niedzielski.  April 4th is the concert at the Convention Center. 

Ø  2009-2010 Band Camp will be a bit different this summer.  Freshmen and section leaders will meet for a pre-camp orientation Tues, August 18th from 9-12.  Band Camp will run from Wed., August 19th- Wed. August 26th .  Preview show will be August 26th @ 5:30

  Fundraising

Ø  Bottle Drive- Charlie: Date is April 25th    8 a.m. – 1 p.m.; Publicity will include flyer to neighbors, Post, Wethersfield Life, Sign Boards, and Zubretzky Billboard. Volunteer sign up sheet will be available at the next meeting, too.

Ø  X-mas Tree- Jerome Sauer and Connor Sullivan- reported making $430.00

Ø  Rockcats- Dates still available.

Ø  Ad Book-Dan Jylka; still needs shadow; has send out letters to businesses and parents; would like help in soliciting extra books.

Ø  Fruit Sale- Still needs shadow        

   

Other Business

Ø  Banquet-  It will be on Friday, May 22nd.  The cost is $5.00 per person and a dish.  Nella and Lisa Ambrogio to buy senior students’ gifts.

Ø  Drama Club is running a raffle for a Martha’s Vineyard weekend.  Tickets are $15.00.

Ø  Channel 3 Cool School’s- February 27th

Ø  Lisa Ambrogio – PTSA has discussed purchasing Community of Concern Booklet as a parent resource.  Booklets are $1.85 ea.  The PTSA is looking to local organizations for donations to pay for purchase.

Ø  Computer Specs for Music Program- Windows XP; 512 MB RAM and 400MB hard-drive will be adequate to run composition and sequencing software.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00.  Next meeting will be March 12th at 7:00 p.m.
