MINUTES OF THE WIMB MEETING
MARCH 2009
Eva Nascimento called meeting to order on March12, 2009 at 7:10 p.m.
February minutes accepted by Yolanda Preysner and seconded by Gil Winder.
Treasurer’s Report
Mario Ciampi- February deposits $802.25 include X-mas Tree Pick-up, DVD Sales, and Magnet Sales. Expenses of $1,164.64 include final payment for NYC Trip $5,000 transferred to Uniform Account leaving Booster’s Account with $18,032.78. Nancy asks Mario how much will we need to meet the rest of this year’s obligations, as well as next years start up funds? Mario will prepare for next meeting.
Uniforms
Will be cleaned after Memorial Day Parade.
Dave Dion’s Update
Ø St Patrick’s Day Parade will be March 14; all set for chaperones needed; 8:30 meet at WHS, leave by 9:00, line up at 10:00. Should be back around 1:00.
Ø Music Man – This is last weekend.
Ø Winter Concert- March 25th at 7:00, a few 8th graders will be joining us; will try to do Senior pictures early
Ø Only 1 ticket left to NYC- In the Heights.
Fundraising
Ø Bottle Drive- Charlie: Date is April 25th 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.; to include flyers in concert program; needs volunteers to post flyers at area businesses; press release in early April, includes Zubretzky Billboard. Volunteer sign up sheet will be available at the next meeting, too. Charlie, has also met with Jerome who’s shadowing him for next year.
Ø Rockcats- Days are May 31, June 27, July 12, 31, and August 14. Still need volunteers. Boosters will reimburse for parking.
Ø Ad Book-Dan Jylka; still needs shadow; March 15th is deadline, Gail to send another email blast to see if we can generate any more business before March 18th, day book due to printer. Nancy suggested offering an incentive for 2 front row tickets to “patron contributors” for next year’s ad book
Other Business
Ø Banquet- Will be on Friday, May 22nd. The cost is $5.00 per person and a dish. Nella, Elia, Lisa, and Eva have met to inventory supplies from last year, as well as develop a plan and time table. Sample invitations passed out for viewing. Will do an email blast in early April, as well as a snail mail right around April vacation. Mara Carey doing the Slide Show.
Ø Rock for the Cure to be held January 28th- Tickets are $5.00. Gail can still use volunteers. Does anyone want to do concessions???
Ø Nancy says we’ve been getting many requests for donations. We are also a fundraising organization. Let’s stay true to our core mission- art/music.
Ø Summer Music Program- through Park and Recs providing a ½ day band and orchestra instruction---group instruction. Session will culminate with a concert. More info to come.
Ø Open Committee and Board positions include Vice President, Fruit Sales Volunteer Coordinator, and Ad Book Chair; Positions will be voted on during May meeting.
Ø Graduation will be June 23rd.
